El tiempo dirá (Time Will Tell)
December 8, 2016 – February 26, 2017
Curators: Thomas Boutoux y Paola Santoscoy
Since the museums foundation (2005), the collaboration between El Eco (DIGAV-UNAM) and the Ricard Foundation has grown naturally in strength. Like El Eco, the Foundation is an experimental and interdisciplinary platform.
Created in 1999, the Ricard Foundation prize was the first one to be dedicated to emerging artists from the French art scene. Every year a different curator is invited to organize an exhibition at the Foundation in Paris that presents a new group of artists under 40. The prize is then awarded to one of the artists, by a jury composed of art collectors, museum directors and the curators of the previous Ricard prize exhibitions.
With the award comes the purchase of a work that is donated to the Centre Pompidou to join its permanent collection. The Fondation d’entreprise Ricard additionally supports the realization of a project by the prize-winner abroad. This pioneering approach demonstrates the commitment of the Ricard Company for more than twenty years as a springboard for a whole generation of artists.
With this exhibition, El Eco wishes to highlight the long-standing support, and trust, of the Ricard Foundation for the artists who, once, have won the Prize, knowing that what matters is as much what the work is as where it’s going. The exhibition Time Will Tell pays interest to how an artist life and practice and the works that it produces represent figures of adaptations, transitions, and transactions, in a world, especially today, with fewer and fewer assurances of futurity
